Taiwanese actress late Seohuiwon has passed away. Her husband Koo Jun-yeob tearfully bid farewell to his wife after 42 days.
On the 15th (local time), according to local media including ETtoday, Seohuiwon's farewell funeral was held at Jinbo Mountain in Taiwan.
This event was attended by her husband Koo Jun-yeob, their two children, her younger brother Seohui-je, and her mother. It is reported that her ex-husband Wang Soubi did not attend.
Captured by local media, Koo Jun-yeob was wearing a suit and coat with a sky-blue mask. He appeared emaciated and sorrowful over the loss of his wife, making his coat seem loose. During the funeral, which was held in the rain, Koo Jun-yeob shed tears as he personally carried the urn. Seohui-je said, “Thank you for your concern. Everything went smoothly.”
Initially, Seohuiwon's funeral was to be held as a natural burial, but it was decided to choose a burial site for various reasons. After considering a place where Koo Jun-yeob could memorialize her, it was decided to hold it at Jinbo Mountain, and the burial site was kept private to prevent fans from crowding the area.
Late Seohuiwon passed away at a hospital in Tokyo, Japan, on the 2nd of last month. After departing for Japan with her family for a trip on the 29th of last month, she was transported to the emergency room on the third day of the trip but ultimately did not recover. It is reported that she had symptoms of flu and asthma and died from pneumonia caused by the flu.
As the news came right before their third wedding anniversary, many mourned, and Koo Jun-yeob and other bereaved family members returned to Taiwan on the 5th of last month after completing some funeral procedures, including cremation, in Japan. In a somber atmosphere, the family held a farewell party to commemorate the deceased, drinking champagne and eating fruit. Koo Jun-yeob guarded Seohuiwon’s urn with a haggard expression.
Amid various discussions surrounding Seohuiwon's funeral, there was ongoing noise regarding inheritance. The estate left by Seohuiwon is reported to be around 120 billion won. Some claim that because Seohuiwon and Koo Jun-yeob did not register their marriage in Taiwan, there is a possibility of losing rights to the estate and custody. However, this has been confirmed to be untrue. Koo Jun-yeob has stated, “All of that inheritance was gathered through blood, sweat, and tears by my late wife to protect her beloved family, so I intend to hand over all rights to my mother-in-law. I plan to take legal measures to protect the children's rights until they become adults so that bad people cannot tamper with them.”
Koo Jun-yeob has indefinitely suspended his activities following Seohuiwon's death. According to local media, Koo Jun-yeob canceled a flash mob event scheduled for February and a beauty clinic opening event planned for March. Koo Jun-yeob said, “The time I spent with Seohuiwon was a precious gift that I would not trade for anything in the world. I believe that protecting her most beloved family is the last thing I can do.”
