Kang Ha-neul confessed that he misinterpreted the title of "Opposition" as a political film.
A production briefing for the film "Opposition" was held on the morning of 13th at Megabox COEX in Seoul. Attendees included lead actors Kang Ha-neul, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-joon, Ryu Kyung-soo, Chae Won-bin, and director Hwang Byeong-kuk.
The film "Opposition" (directed by Hwang Byeong-kuk, distributed by Plus M Entertainment, produced by HYBE Media Corp.) is a crime action piece that deals with the little-known "Opposition" involved in drug-related transactions in South Korea, specifically focusing on brokers in the drug scene, prosecutors aiming for higher positions, and detectives committed to eradicating drug crimes. It is the first film to focus on this subject, produced by HYBE Media Corp., known for the 13.12 million viewer success of "The Spring of Seoul."
Actor Kang Ha-neul, who is active across various fields and genres from screen to home theater, plays Ikang-soo, a drug broker who sells information about drug offenders to national investigative agencies; Yoo Hae-jin plays Prosecutor Koo Kwan-hee, who aims to rise from humble beginnings; and Park Hae-joon portrays Detective Oh Sang-jae, who is determined to eradicate drug crimes. Additionally, Ryu Kyung-soo plays Jo Hoon, the son of a presidential candidate, while Chae Won-bin plays actress Um Soo-jin, who fell to the bottom after getting involved with drugs.
Kang Ha-neul said, "At first, I thought the title was related to politics. But when I read the script, I was shocked to find it wasn't. The way the script was structured made me curious with every page I turned. The script itself had a charm that kept drawing me in," revealing the reason for his participation.
Yoo Hae-jin noted, "There was a freshness in using the subject of 'Opposition' for the first time. It could have easily been a cliché film, but it wasn't, and I was very attracted to its freshness."
Director Hwang Byeong-kuk explained about 'Opposition', saying, "It refers to the language used in drug circles, not the political terms of opposition and ruling parties. In the drug world, those who provide information to investigative agencies and take financial benefits are called Opposition. They are a kind of broker."
Meanwhile, 'Opposition' is set to be released on April 23.
