The Hanwha Eagles under manager Ryu Ji-hyun take a vigorous first step toward a leap.
Hanwha Eagles said on the 28th that they will depart through Incheon International Airport on the 30th for a "first customized development camp for the 2027 season," which includes dispatching players to a Japanese professional baseball team.
The camp will consist of a total of 34 people, including manager Ryu Ji-hyun and the coaching staff, 13 pitchers, 4 catchers, 7 infielders and 10 outfielders; they will arrive in Miyazaki, Japan, on the 30th, train at Miyazaki Soken Stadium from the 31st until the 21st of next month, and return on the 22nd.
Hanwha explained that a representative feature of this camp is that it "is based on applying a personalized development system for each player."
At the Miyazaki camp, training begins at 7 a.m. with joint practice in the morning, followed by individual training in the afternoon with varied end times according to each player's customized program.
In addition, aiming to develop players into core contributors for next season, the team will concurrently dispatch players to Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball. Four players — Kang Jae-min, Jeong Eun-won, Choi In-ho and Park Jun-young (uniform number 68) — will move from Yokohama's closing camp (Nov. 2–Nov. 14) to the Miyazaki camp (Nov. 14–Nov. 22).
Last year Hanwha dispatched three players (Park Jeong-hyun, Jeong Min-gyu, Han Ji-yun) to Yokohama's closing camp to gain advanced baseball experience for the first time. Park Jeong-hyun and Han Ji-yun proved their potential this season by recording 11 home runs and 6 home runs, respectively.
Also, to improve the skills of up-and-coming pitchers, four players — Park Jun-young (uniform number 96), Hwang Jun-seo, Jeong Woo-joo and Kang Geon-woo — who are dispatched to the Japanese specialized training facility Next Base Athletics Lab will complete their customized training program schedules and then join the club's first camp on the 4th of next month.
Players who do not join the Miyazaki camp are expected to train at Seosan Futures Stadium according to the already planned Individual Development Plan (IDP) program.
The IDP is a player-specific development plan jointly established by the front office and the coaching staff; it was piloted last year and expanded to the entire Futures roster this season.
Rehabilitation players, rookies and development players will also prepare for next season in Seosan by combining technical training with a focus on physical training.<
