The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (Chairman Yoo Seung-min) expressed deep condolences for the affected areas and victims related to the recent large wildfires occurring nationwide, and delivered crisis response manuals to regional and municipal sports organizations.
Yoo Seung-min stated, "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased and their families who lost their lives during the wildfire suppression efforts, and I wish for the quick recovery of the injured and the speedy restoration of the affected regions."
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee conveys its condolences to those involved in sports in the affected areas, while distributing fire prevention materials such as the ▲National Action Guidelines for Wildfire Prevention, ▲Practical Manual for Crisis Response to Large Fires in High-Density Facilities, and ▲Standard Manual for Disaster Crisis Management in Sports Facilities to each regional sports committee and municipal sports organization, urging special attention to fire prevention resulting from sports activities.
In particular, ahead of the upcoming 54th National Youth Sports Competition to be held in May in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, inspections and preventive measures for nearby sports facilities have been requested.
The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee plans to actively cooperate with sports members to aid the government's efforts to prevent the spread of damage and support the speedy recovery of the affected areas.
