The Korea Mixed Martial Arts Association (Chairman Jeong Moon-hong) will attend the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association seminar in preparation for next year's Asian Games.
The Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association (AMMA) will host the 1st AMMA promotion & test seminar from the 28th to the 30th at the Momentus Hotel Alexandra in Singapore.
The AMMA is a direct agency of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), which oversees the Asian Games. With mixed martial arts adopted as an event for the Asian Games, member organizations of the AMMA will be able to participate in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games to be held next year.
The Korea Mixed Martial Arts Association is preparing for the Asian Games by participating in official events organized by the AMMA. They will also participate in the 1st AMMA promotion & test seminar hosted by the AMMA. Those who complete the seminar will qualify for the assessment to issue mixed martial arts licenses.
The referees from the Korea Mixed Martial Arts Association participating in the seminar are five international referees (Kim Seong-tae, Yang Seo-woo, Park Joon-yong, Jeon Seong-won, Seo Hye-rin). They obtained the international referee qualification certificate for the first time in South Korea through a referee seminar and test organized by the AMMA. They ranked first among participating countries in the test, elevating the status of South Korean referees.
International referees from the Korea Mixed Martial Arts Association have also participated as referees in various international competitions, with referee Kim Seong-tae being delegated as deputy referee chairman of the AMMA and winning the best referee award at the 1st AMMA championships. Referee Yang Seo-woo also won the best referee award at the 2nd AMMA championships and is active as a referee instructor for the AMMA.
Affiliated athletes also performed well at the 2023 1st AMMA championships, with Park Han-bin winning the MVP award, Jin Seong-hoon taking 2nd place for the silver medal, and Son Jin-ho, Lee Sang-kyun, Bae Dong-hyun, and Kim Ha-jun contributing to a team ranking of 3rd place by winning bronze medals. Last year, at the 2nd AMMA championships, Park Seo-young and Lee Bo-mi won silver medals, and Kim Ha-jin won a bronze medal, enhancing the status of mixed martial arts in South Korea.
The Korea Mixed Martial Arts Association is dispatching referees to this seminar in preparation for the Asian Games, departing on the 27th and participating in the official event schedule from the 28th to the 30th, returning on the 31st. Chairman Jeong Moon-hong will also attend to meet with Gordon Tang, the president of the AMMA, and other leaders.
