Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Ki-hwan) held its first 2-year-old racehorse auction of the year at the Korean Thoroughbred Breeders Association auction house located in Jeju farm on the 18th.
According to the Korea Racing Authority, racehorse auction transactions are conducted in a public venue where producers list horses and buyers bid, making the prices transparently available. Since the prices are determined based on pedigree or ability, it is a reasonable transaction method for both producers and buyers.
This 2-year-old auction, which opened the door to this year's racehorse auction, listed a total of 134 racehorses. Among them, 47 horses were sold, resulting in a sale rate of 35%. The total sale amount was 1.81 billion won, and the average sale price per horse was 38.64 million won.
The highest bid in this auction was recorded at 131 million won for a stallion listed as number 115. This stallion, produced by the corporate producer 'Daecheon Farm', is the offspring of the Korea Racing Authority's representative stallion 'Shackleford' (sire) and 'Hameeliz Rolly Pop' (dam).
Meanwhile, the racehorse auctions that began in March are scheduled to take place six times in total until the end of the year. The next auction is planned for June.
