Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism met with 10 stakeholders, including representatives and coaches of athletes in winter sports for people with disabilities, and executives from the Korea Disabled Ice Hockey Association and the Korea Disabled Ski Federation at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, on the 19th to discuss ways to promote winter sports for people with disabilities.

According to the ministry, this meeting was arranged to discuss support measures for the national team of disabled athletes to achieve good results in preparation for the '2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics.'

Meeting participants requested the government's active interest and support to ensure that the national team of disabled athletes can fully demonstrate their skills in a safe environment during the Winter Paralympics next year, including improvements to the overall training environment for the national team, such as expanding winter training facilities. They also highlighted the need for investments in nurturing rookie athletes for generational change in winter sports and expanding support for participation in international competitions.

Vice Minister Jang noted, "As we prepare for the '2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympics' just a year away, national team athletes and coaches are sweating it out even now to focus on their training," adding, "The ministry will actively cooperate with the Korea Paralympic Committee and affiliated organizations to support the national team of disabled athletes in achieving good results during the remaining preparation period."
