SSG Landers outfielder Hah Jae-hoon has recovered from his injury and hit back-to-back home runs.
Hah Jae-hoon started as the No. 3 right fielder in the game against the Goyang Heroes at the Futures League held at the SSG Futures Field in Ganghwa on the 15th.
In the bottom of the first inning with one out and a runner on third, Hah hit a two-run home run that cleared the left wall against Goyang's starter Park Joo-sung on a 2-ball count. It was a well-hit shot with a distance of 120m.
In his second at-bat in the bottom of the third inning with no outs and a runner on first, the runner Jeong Hyun-seung successfully stole second base, and Hah launched another two-run home run that sailed over the left wall against Park Joo-sung on a full count. Back-to-back two-run home runs occurred.
Hah Jae-hoon, who showed peak hitting with 2 hits in 2 at-bats, 2 home runs, and 4 RBIs, was replaced by Park Jeong-bin in the top of the fourth inning and finished his game. The previous day, in the Futures League opening game, Hah had 0 hits in 1 at-bat with 2 walks and 2 runs scored. He has completed preparations for his return to the first team.
Hah Jae-hoon was injured during the second training camp in Okinawa, Japan. On the 25th of last month, he collided with the outfield wall while playing defense in a practice game against Samsung. Afterward, he experienced rib pain and returned early to receive rehabilitation treatment. Having recovered from his injury, Hah adjusted his hitting in the Futures League. He will now join the first team for final checks in the exhibition matches.
Manager Lee Seung-yong mentioned on the 15th at Incheon SSG Landers Field regarding the outfield competition between Oh Tae-gon and Hah Jae-hoon ahead of the exhibition game against LG. Center fielder Choi Ji-hoon and left fielder Eredia are set, while Hah Jae-hoon, a right-handed hitter, and left-handed Oh Tae-gon are expected to alternate in the right field position.
Manager Lee Seung-yong said, "Jae-hoon is playing in the second team today, and it seems he will come up a bit faster. If the performance in the games yesterday and today looks good, I am thinking he could join us by tomorrow or when we go to Gwangju for the away game against KIA. Jae-hoon seems likely to return sooner than expected."
If Hah Jae-hoon is delayed, Oh Tae-gon becomes the first choice. Manager Lee noted, "Tae-gon has also been having a tough time but has been improving slightly after yesterday's game, so we need to choose the player who is performing well as we prepare for the opening game against Doosan, where it is highly likely both starter pitchers will be left-handed."
Doosan's foreign pitchers Cole Irvin and Jack Logg are both left-handed. Oh Tae-gon recorded 2 hits and 2 RBIs in 4 at-bats against Kiwoom on the 14th, and he continued his good form on the 15th with 2 hits and 3 RBIs in 3 at-bats during the exhibition game against LG. Both Oh Tae-gon and Hah Jae-hoon are right-handed hitters and will have to compete fairly.
