Rookie Jang Mina (26, Storm) has reached the top in her first TV final of her professional debut.
Jang Mina defeated fellow amateur Choi Hyun-in (43, Titan Glaze) 216-181 in the final of the women's division TV final at the '2025 Uljin Cup National Open Bowling Tournament' held at the bowling center in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, on the afternoon of the 14th.
As a result, Jang Mina did not settle for just making it to the TV final in the opening event of the women's competition this season, but she proudly claimed victory in her debut.
Right-handed bowler Jang Mina is a rookie, but she is an elite athlete who has represented the national youth team twice (in 2017 and 2018). Until last year, she played as a professional athlete with the Gokseong County office and has a wealth of tournament experience at her young age.
On the other hand, left-handed bowler and fellow amateur Choi Hyun-in had to settle for being the runner-up in her first TV final. Choi picked up a bowling ball shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic and has only five years of experience. Last year, she achieved her best result by finishing 15th in the Little Kkomagimbap Cup.
Up until the 4th frame, both competitors were tied with strikes and covers. However, a crack appeared when Choi Hyun-in failed to cover after a split in the 5th frame.
When Choi Hyun-in made a mistake, Jang Mina steadily built up her score with covers without taking unnecessary risks in the 5th to 7th frames, seizing the momentum. Eventually, from the 8th frame, Jang Mina decorated her first throw in the 10th frame with a turkey, sealing the victory.
Choi Hyun-in finished the 9th frame with a strike, but she failed to hit her first throw in the 10th frame, thwarting her comeback attempt.
Meanwhile, in the first team competition of the season, the 'new' Taeyang Life team (Park Geun-sam, Jeong Jun-o, Choi Dong-geun) and the Ebonite team (Ji Eun-sol, Yoo Seong-hee, Lee Na-young) topped the men's and women's divisions.
Taeyang Life defeated Team SNT (Seo Hyo-dong, Lee Jun-woo, Kim Jun-sung) 225-198, while Ebonite defeated Team Storm (Kim Ji-hyun, Jang Mina, Han Yoon-a) 232-177.
