On the 7th, the newly appointed president of the Korea Billiards Federation, Seo Su-gil, is continuing a groundbreaking approach.

Seo was elected on the 23rd of last month in the election for the 3rd president of the Korea Billiards Federation, achieving the highest number of votes and the largest margin in history. Since then, he has been actively enhancing communication with regional federations and pursuing measures to bolster operations.

Seo has introduced major policies, including a lift on the suspension of federation registration for Professional Billiards Association (PBA) players and a 400% increase in prize money for comprehensive tournaments, about three weeks after taking office.

In addition, Seo is actively promoting policies aimed at improving the treatment of billiards players, such as the establishment of player participation allowances and increases in referee allowances. The announcement of this prize money increase is not just a short-term measure but aims for efforts in reducing prize money disparities and potential further increases.

Notably, the decision to temporarily ease the registration suspension to allow PBA players to smoothly participate in tournaments affiliated with the Korea Billiards Federation has garnered significant attention in the billiards community. The federation explained, "The aim is to broaden players' choices and promote the development of the billiards community."

Having been elected, Seo plans to progressively implement the scheduled policies by presenting practical pledges through continuous communication with billiards stakeholders.

Key policies currently being pursued by the federation include: ▲expanding annual financial support for regional federations and promoting regional festivals for billiards tournaments ▲supporting the training of national representatives and preparing for the 2030 Doha Asian Games ▲expanding the pool of leaders for national teams and training squads ▲expanding categories for the National Sports Festival and introducing new categories for youth sports festivals ▲introducing a division league management system ▲expanding national-level amateur tournaments ▲supporting overseas exchange programs for outstanding amateurs ▲supporting global business and market development for the billiards industry.

Kwon Yong-hoon, executive director of the Korea Billiards Federation, noted, "We will rapidly implement policies that can provide immediate benefits to the billiards community and continuously review good policies to inspire positive changes throughout the billiards sector," adding, "We plan to actively support these changes at the federation level."
