On the morning of the 3rd, the first commute day of November, temperatures fell below freezing. Morning lows dropped sharply by about 5–10 degrees from the day before. Cold wave advisories are in effect in parts of Seoul and across the country, including Daejeon and Sejong.
The Korea meteorological Administration said on the morning of the 3rd that it issued cold wave advisories for northeastern and southwestern Seoul, Daejeon, Sejong and other areas. Other regions under cold wave advisories are: ▲ Incheon (excluding Ganghwa County and Ongjin County) ▲ Gyeonggi: Gwangmyeong, Gwacheon, Ansan, Bucheon, Pocheon, Yangju, Suwon, Anyang, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Gunpo, Uiwang, Yongin, Icheon, Anseong, Hwaseong, Yeoju, Yangpyeong ▲ Gangwon: Hoengseong, Wonju, northern mountainous areas of Gangwon; South Chungcheong: Cheongyang, Yesan, Taean, Boryung, Seocheon, Hongseong ▲ North Chungcheong: Goesan, Jecheon ▲ North Jeolla: Gimje, Wanju, Jinan, Muju, Jangsu, Imsil, Iksan, Namwon ▲ North Gyeongsang: Sangju ▲ South Gyeongsang: Hamyang, Geochang, Hapcheon, Namhae.
A cold wave advisory is issued when the morning low drops by 10 degrees or more from the previous day to 3 degrees or lower, or when the morning low is forecast to be 3 degrees below the seasonal average.
The Korea meteorological Administration said, "As cold air moves south from the north, cold wave alerts have been issued in some areas," and noted, "With clear skies overnight adding radiative cooling, morning temperatures fell sharply by about 5–10 degrees from yesterday."
The morning lows recorded were minus 3.8 degrees in Paju, Gyeonggi; minus 2.3 degrees in Chuncheon, Gangwon; minus 2.0 degrees in Geochang, South Gyeongsang; minus 1.8 degrees in Chungju, North Chungcheong; and minus 1.7 degrees in Cheonan, South Chungcheong. Daejeon logged 0 degrees, Seoul 0.5 degrees, and Sejong minus 0.7 degrees. Daytime highs will rise to 11–18 degrees. With a temperature gap of around 15 degrees between the subzero morning and the afternoon, take care of your health.
The cold will peak on this day, and from the 4th, temperatures will gradually return to normal levels. Morning lows on the 4th will be 1–11 degrees, and on the 5th, 2–12 degrees, similar to the seasonal average. Daytime highs on the 4th and 5th will be 14–20 degrees and 16–21 degrees.
Meanwhile, on the morning of this day, rain is expected in parts of the southern and northern East Coast of North Gyeongsang and the central and southern East Coast of Gangwon. In the afternoon, raindrops are also expected in Busan, Ulsan and along the South Coast. Expected precipitation is less than 5 mm on the southern East Coast of North Gyeongsang. On the 4th, light rain is forecast for Jeju Island and the South Coast of South Jeolla.
