The National Fire Agency said it issued a five-day "national fire mobilization order" starting on the 28th to secure safety for the "2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit" in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang.
The mobilization order takes effect mainly in the North Gyeongsang region. More than 700 personnel and about 260 pieces of equipment from city and provincial fire headquarters nationwide will be mobilized in sequence. Combined with North Gyeongsang's firefighting capacity, up to more than 670 personnel and about 200 pieces of equipment per day are expected to be deployed.
The National Fire Agency said, "As large crowds and foreign guests will be concentrated during the summit, this is a measure to respond swiftly to all disaster situations, including fires, rescues, and emergency medical services."
The equipment to be deployed includes pumpers, water tankers, and ambulances, as well as specialized response assets such as chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) response vehicles and communications command buses. On site, nationwide fire personnel will coordinate around the Fire Operations Headquarters set up in Gyeongju to establish an integrated command system, and will be deployed to key areas such as event venues, accommodations, and travel routes.
