Tuesday the 21st is recording the coldest day of this fall. Regions such as Paju and Yeoncheon in Gyeonggi and Seoraksan in Gangwon recorded subzero temperatures, and Seoul fell to 4.8 degrees.
According to the Korea meteorological Administration, as of 6 a.m. that day, some areas recorded below-freezing temperatures, including Panmunjom in Paju, Gyeonggi at -0.1 degrees, Baekhak in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi at -0.1 degrees, and Seoraksan in Yangyang, Gangwon at -0.6 degrees.
The greater Seoul area and other central regions are seeing temperatures around 5 degrees. The morning low in Seoul that day fell to 4.8 degrees, colder than the previous day's 5.3 degrees. Suwon and Incheon also dropped to 5 degrees and 5.1 degrees, respectively. In addition, Oechon in Cheorwon, Gangwon recorded 1 degree, Changsu in Pocheon, Gyeonggi 1.2 degrees, Gyeryongsan in South Chungcheong 5.5 degrees, Jeonui in Sejong 6.2 degrees, Cheongju in North Chungcheong 9.3 degrees, Daejeon 9.3 degrees, and Wonhyobong in Yesan, South Chungcheong 4.7 degrees. The Jeolla region ranged from 3 to 11 degrees, the Gyeongsang region from 6 to 15 degrees, and Jeju from 5 to 18 degrees.
The Korea meteorological Administration said, "Cold air is moving south from the north, bringing low temperatures," and noted, "Daytime highs will be around 15 degrees in most regions nationwide (around 10 degrees in the Gangwon highlands), with a large temperature difference between day and night."
The cold morning weather will continue through Wednesday the 22nd. However, temperatures will return to normal for this time of year in the latter half of the week. On the 22nd, the morning low is forecast at 3 to 14 degrees and the daytime high at 14 to 23 degrees. On the 23rd, they will be 7 to 15 degrees and 15 to 23 degrees, respectively.
Meanwhile, in Yeongdong, Gangwon, rain will fall off and on through the morning that day, and on the East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang and in Busan and Ulsan through late that night. From the next morning, rain will return to Yeongdong, Gangwon; the East Sea coast of North Gyeongsang; the eastern part of the South Gyeongsang region; and Jeju.
