The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters said that as of 12 p.m. on the 14th it had normalized 287 of the 709 administrative information systems disrupted by the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) fire. The recovery rate is 40.5%.
Systems recently restored include the national data agency (formerly Statistics Korea) remote sensing system, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' Bohoon Baeum, and the Happy City Construction Agency intranet. Of the "grade 1" systems closely tied to people's daily lives, 31 out of 40 have been normalized.
Earlier, at about 8:15 p.m. on the 26th of last month, a fire broke out due to a lithium-ion battery explosion in the computer room on the fifth floor of the NIRS building in Hwaam-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Government services were simultaneously paralyzed due to system damage affected by the fire. The government has continued restoration work up to the present, 19 days after the incident occurred.
