This year's first autumn leaves on Seorak Mountain began on the 2nd. The Korea meteorological Administration calls it "start of autumn leaves" when about 20% of the whole mountain is colored from the summit downward. The peak period, when foliage covers 80% of the mountain, is expected to be around the 22nd.
According to the Gangwon Regional Korea meteorological Administration, this year's start of the autumn leaves is two days earlier than last year (Oct. 4) and four days later than the average year (Oct. 17).
The Korea meteorological Administration provides the status of the autumn leaves for 21 major famous mountains nationwide through its homepage. Through the Gangwon foliage and weather convergence service, you can view the live foliage conditions and real-time videos of Seorak Mountain, Odae Mountain, Chiak Mountain, and Taebaek Mountain in Gangwon. The Korea meteorological Administration said, "Travelers planning foliage trips should refer to it."
