Minister Yun Ho-jung said, referring to the paralysis of government services due to the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) in Daejeon, "I deeply apologize for the great inconvenience to the public caused by this disruption."
Minister Yun bowed in apology at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCHQ) meeting on the administrative information system fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS), held at the Central Disaster and Safety Situation Room at the Government Complex Sejong on the 29th, saying, "We are focusing all capabilities so that services can be normalized as quickly as possible."
He said, "Forty-seven services have been normalized so far, and the number of services restored is increasing by the hour," adding, "In particular, Government24 and postal financial services, which many people use, have also resumed. For systems that have not yet been restored, we will post immediate notices through Naver and Daum and provide updates every hour."
Minister Yun said, "It is not easy to restart immediately the 96 systems involved in the completely burned-out Data Center 7-1," adding, "Accordingly, we will prepare alternative measures as quickly as possible, including transferring them to a public-private cooperation cloud within the NIRS Daegu Center."
He continued, "We will secure alternative means to ensure that work does not stop until the systems are fully restored, minimizing inconvenience to the public," adding, "After the weekend, civil petitions and administrative demand will increase and public inconvenience may expand. Ministries and local governments will put their heads together to actively discuss measures to minimize inconvenience."
Minister Yun reiterated, "I deeply apologize for the great inconvenience," adding, "We will do our best to provide stable services as soon as possible."
