The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 29th that 73 services, including "Bokjiro" and the "Social Security Information Portal," have been restored among the 647 government services that were suspended due to the fire at the Daejeon National Information Resources Service (NIRS).
According to the ministry, as of 4 p.m. that day, 73 services had been fully restored. That is about 11.3% of the total.
The latest normalization list includes the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "Bokjiro," which allows applications for various welfare services, and the ministry's "Social Security Information Portal," which manages eligibility for various social welfare benefits and services.
Earlier, services widely used in daily life by the public, such as "Government24" and "Mobile ID," as well as Korea Post finance (internet deposits, smart deposits, financial product mall, internet insurance, smart insurance), internet post office domestic and electronic mail, certificate services, and international mail receipt inquiry, were also restored. The ministry said, "We will notify the public through Naver and Daum each time the remaining systems resume service."
To resolve public complaints until the disruption is resolved, the government decided to operate a joint government civil service center (110 call center), local civil service centers (such as the 120 call center), and a dedicated civil service support team starting that day. For 96 systems such as the People's Sinmungo and Safety Didimdol, whose data centers were completely destroyed by fire and will be difficult to restore quickly, normalization is expected to take about a month.
At about 8:15 p.m. on the 26th, a fire broke out due to a lithium-ion battery explosion in the data center on the fifth floor of the NIRS in Hwaam-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. System damage caused by the fire led to a simultaneous outage of government services.
The ministry said it is prioritizing systems that affect public safety, property, and economic activity, and is proceeding with restoration by priority according to a grading system based on system importance.
