A 'water bomb' with precipitation reaching 130mm per hour fell in Deokjeok-myeon, Ongjin-gun, Incheon. Currently, a heavy rain warning is in effect for Incheon, while rain advisories are in place for Gyeonggi and Seoul, as heavy rain alerts have been issued across the capital region.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the 13th, 127.1mm of rain poured down in Buk-ri, Deokjeok-myeon, Incheon. An emergency rainfall alert was issued for this area. Even rainfall of just 50mm can make driving difficult, and the amount of rain recorded here was well over double that.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning for Incheon, including this area, at 8:30 a.m. that day, and a rain advisory for Gyeonggi's Ansan, Siheung, Bucheon, Gimpo, Dongducheon, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Gapyeong, Goyang, Yangju, Uijeongbu, Paju, Guri, Namyangju, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Yongin, Icheon, Anseong, Hwaseong, Yeoju, the five western islands, and Seoul (excluding the southeastern region).
More rain is forecast to fall in the capital region between that night and early the next day. The Korea Meteorological Administration expects 50-150mm of rain to fall in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and the five western islands from the 13th to the 14th, with some areas receiving over 200mm of rain. In particular, heavy rainfall is anticipated in the northern Gyeonggi region.
A representative of the Korea Meteorological Administration urged people to 'be cautious of flooding and safety accidents caused by heavy rain and flooding.'
