On the first day of the livelihood recovery consumption coupon application on the 21st, a total of 4.15 million people registered just 3 hours after applications began, by noon.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that as of noon that day, 4,154,846 people had applied for consumption coupons. The ratio of online applications was 91% (3,794,877 cases) and offline applications were 9% (334,652 cases). This represents 8.2% of the total number of recipients (50,607,067 people). The total amount disbursed is 754.5 billion won (9.3% of the expected aggregates).
The Ministry noted, "Compared to the first day of the past national support fund applications when about 5 million people registered in a single day, the application and distribution are progressing at a rapid pace," adding that "public expectations are presumed to be high."
The area with the highest application rate compared to the total number of recipients was Sejong City (9.13%). Following that were Daegu (8.8%), Gwangju (8.77%), and Daejeon (8.66%), while Jeonnam (7.17%), Gangwon (7.71%), and Incheon (7.98%) had relatively lower application rates.
