Heavy rain warnings have been issued for the metropolitan area, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, as well as for the Chungcheong, Sejong, Daejeon, and Jeonbuk regions. Rain is expected to continue until the following day, the 17th.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that as of 6 p.m. on the 16th, heavy rain warnings were in effect for Taean, Seosan, Boryung, and Hongseong in South Chungcheong Province, while rain advisories were issued for Gwangmyeong, Gwacheon, Ansan, Siheung, Bucheon, Gapyeong, Uijeongbu, Suwon, Seongnam, Anyang, Guri, Namyangju, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Gunpo, Uiwang, Hanam, Yongin, Icheon, Anseong, Hwaseong, Yeoju, Gwangju, and Yangpyeong, the five islands off the west coast, as well as for Cheonan, Gongju, Asan, Nonsan, Geumsan, Buyeo, Cheongyang, Yesan, Dangjin, Seocheon, and Gyeryong in South Chungcheong Province, and Cheongju, Jincheon, Eumseong, and Jeungpyeong in North Chungcheong Province, as well as Gunsan and Iksan in Jeonbuk, Seoul, Incheon (excluding Ganghwa County), Sejong, and Daejeon.
A rain advisory is issued when 60mm of rain is expected within three hours or 110mm within twelve hours. It can be difficult to avoid getting wet even with an umbrella. A heavy rain warning is declared when 90mm of rain is expected within three hours or 180mm within twelve hours.
In particular, with more rain expected in Taean, Seosan, Boryung, and Hongseong in South Chungcheong Province, the existing rain advisory has been upgraded to a 'heavy rain warning.' Over the course of two days until the 17th, 50 to 150mm of rainfall is expected, with some areas likely to receive more than 200mm of rain.
The Korea Meteorological Administration noted, 'Very intense and heavy rain is expected,' urging people to refrain from camping and to avoid walking paths along rivers and underpasses. Attention should also be paid to traffic safety.
Rain is expected to continue until Saturday, the 19th. Following the rain, a heatwave is anticipated, and sporadic showers may occur, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
