The government has formed a 'consumer recovery coupon interagency task force (TF)' to discuss detailed plans for the distribution of consumer coupons.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced on the 23rd that it had formed the TF together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Services Commission, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and the National Health Insurance Service. The Director General of the TF will be Kim Min-jae, the acting Minister of Interior and Safety and Vice Minister.
Earlier, at the Cabinet meeting on the 19th, a supplementary budget proposal containing a 10 trillion won 'consumer recovery coupon' project was reviewed and approved. 250,000 won will be provided to the general public, 400,000 won to the near-poor, 500,000 won to basic recipients, and 150,000 won to the top 10%.
In the future, the interagency TF will discuss and decide on detailed measures for the distribution of the consumer recovery coupons, including criteria for selecting recipients, timing of distribution, places of use, and application and payment methods.
Kim said, "I hope the consumer recovery coupons will help citizens who are facing difficulties and serve as a springboard for regional economic recovery," and noted, "As soon as the supplementary budget is passed in the National Assembly, we will thoroughly prepare to ensure that citizens can receive the consumer recovery coupons in a timely manner in cooperation with the relevant agencies."
