The Ministry of Employment and Labor, in collaboration with Kia, operates a specialized training program for 'electric vehicle maintenance personnel training course.'
On the 23rd, the Ministry announced that it will establish and operate the 'electric vehicle maintenance personnel training course' developed in cooperation with Kia and AutoQ (Korea Comprehensive AutoQ Association and National Kia AutoQ Association) at 11 vocational training institutions nationwide. Training applications can be made through the 'Employment 24' website.
This is to provide practical on-site vocational training as the demand for maintenance personnel has increased due to the expansion of electric vehicle distribution. According to Kia's own survey, there is a shortage of about 500 maintenance personnel within AutoQ.
This training is designed as a competency-based curriculum, and upon successful completion, participants can obtain the qualification of automotive maintenance engineer. Additionally, when hired by AutoQ, they will be granted the 'in-house technician qualification level 1,' equivalent to two years of experience. Major vehicle management centers like AutoQ will conduct recruitment events for graduates and will support the consolidation of training outcomes into employment through preferential hiring.
Training costs are fully covered by the National Tomorrow Learning Card. If certain criteria are met, participants can also receive a training incentive of up to 316,000 won per month.
