The first year high school English section problems and answers were leaked in advance in the June national unified assessment, prompting the education authorities to launch an investigation.
According to education authorities and others on the 5th, the June national unified assessment for the 2025 academic year was conducted for first and second-year high school students on the 4th.
This exam was administered by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education. While the mock SATs for third-year students in June and September are overseen by the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, the national unified assessments for first and second-year students are prepared alternately by the metropolitan and provincial offices of education.
However, it was found that the problems, answers, and explanations for the first year high school English section of this June national unified assessment were shared in an open chat room on a social networking service (SNS) with about 3,200 people including academy instructors before the assessment ended. The problems and answers were reportedly shared in the open chat room at 12:30 p.m., which was 40 minutes before the exam began at 1:10 p.m. The answers and explanations for the exam should be disclosed only after all evaluations have been completely concluded.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, which oversaw this assessment, had previously transferred the problems, answers, and explanations to the metropolitan and provincial offices of education in April. The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education noted, "The leaked problems and explanations are identical to the test actually administered to students, and since the problems, answers, and explanations were managed by each metropolitan and provincial office of education after being transferred, it is currently unclear how they were leaked externally before the exam."
Meanwhile, on this day, 400,000 first-year students and 410,000 second-year students participated in the national unified assessment exam.
