Minister Ko, acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, visited the Daejeon headquarters of the National Information Resources Management Institute on the 14th to inspect the information system supporting the 21st presidential election.
Acting Minister Ko confirmed that the resident registration system, city and county websites, and other key information systems related to the election are being operated well and that preventive measures against malfunctions are effectively in place to ensure stable operation of related systems during the election period. He also inspected the core infrastructure of the National Information Resources Management Institute, including the comprehensive situation room that oversees election-related systems and the national information and communication network.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has recently been operating a 'digital government service situation management team' to strengthen responses against cyber intrusions, such as system malfunctions, web hacking, and DDoS attacks on major information systems.
Acting Minister Ko said, "We will create an environment where citizens can vote with peace of mind," adding, "We will thoroughly prepare to respond swiftly to all situations that may arise during the election period and maintain the stability of system operations to ensure that the election is conducted smoothly."
