The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 21st that it will accept candidates for the '2025 Korea Volunteer Awards' until the 30th of next month. This award is given to individuals, corporations, and local governments that have contributed to the activation of volunteerism and has been held for the 20th time this year since its inception in 2006.
Any citizen can recommend candidates. Recommendations can be submitted to the '1365 Volunteer Portal' with the consent of five or more people excluding the person being recommended. For more details, you can inquire by calling the local volunteer center at the area code +1365.
Those recommended will be selected as candidates through an internal review by relevant organizations such as central government departments, local governments, and volunteer organizations, and will be recommended to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Recommended candidates include those who ▲ have continuously practiced service and goodwill towards neighbors in need ▲ have devoted themselves to disaster recovery from various disasters such as typhoons and fires ▲ have contributed to solving social issues through volunteerism ▲ have actively participated in promoting and spreading the 'Warmth Sharing Campaign.' In particular, for youth candidates aged 19 to 34, the review will focus more on content than on the duration of their public service.
The submitted candidates will be selected for awards ranging from medals to decoration, Presidential Commendation, Prime Minister's Commendation, and Minister of the Interior and Safety's Commendation based on their public contributions after evaluation and public verification. The selected awardees are scheduled to be honored at the national volunteer conference commemorating 'Volunteer Day' on December 5th.
