The Ministry of Interior and Safety announced on the 14th that it will expand the application scope of the standard operating procedures for public information systems to include applications (AP). This follows the addition of AP after the hardware (HW) and system software (SW) areas of the related systems last October.

The expanded application of the standard operating procedures aims to reduce the gaps in AP management levels and capabilities among public institutions. Until now, there have been no standardized procedures for AP management systems. As a result, some agencies have experienced malfunctions during the AP modification process. There have also been concerns about the significant amount of time required for stabilization after adding or changing functionalities within information systems.

To address these issues, the Ministry of Interior and Safety has created new standard operating procedures in five areas based on international standards: ▲distribution management ▲test management ▲connection management ▲configuration management ▲operational state management.

The AP standard operating procedures developed by the Ministry of Interior and Safety will be recommended for application to all public institutions this year. From next year, it will be mandatory to apply them. This measure takes into account the varying preparation statuses and budget acquisition among institutions.

Lee Yong-seok, head of the Digital Government Innovation Division at the Ministry of Interior and Safety, noted that "AP is an area where ensuring stability is very important" and said, "We will continuously strengthen measures to ensure the stability of the digital government so that we can manage public information systems without any gaps."
