In April, the government will focus inspections on the construction industry, where accidents due to falls, collapses, and fires frequently occur.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency noted on the 9th that they will conduct unannounced visits to construction sites nationwide identified as having a high risk of fall, collapse, and fire accidents.
A Ministry of Employment and Labor official said, "We will oversee compliance with the Industrial Safety and Health Act in its entirety, taking administrative and legal action against violations of the statutes, and thoroughly verify and guide compliance with essential safety rules for each type of accident."
In particular, efforts will be concentrated on measures to prevent sparks generated during welding and cutting work and to mitigate damage during the recovery process in the special disaster areas of Andong, Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Yeongdeok in North Gyeongsang Province, Sancheong and Hadong in South Gyeongsang Province, and Ulju in Ulsan, which were affected by wildfires.
