Lee Cheol-woo, the governor of North Gyeongsang Province, stated at the wildfire command center in Uiseong on the afternoon of the same day, "It is possible to extinguish the main fire before sunset." He added, "The wind is somewhat blowing, but helicopter operations are going well," and he projected, "It seems possible to extinguish the main fire around 5 p.m." He further noted, "All conditions are suitable for completely extinguishing the wildfire," and said, "After discussing with the Korea Forest Service, it has been indicated that the main fire will be extinguished by sunset today."
However, a representative from the Southern Regional Forest Service remarked, "While the extinguishing rate has increased significantly, it is not yet at a stage that can be considered extinguishing the main fire," adding, "We are doing our best for complete extinguishment."
