In Uiseong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, thick raindrops fell six days after a wildfire broke out on the 21st. It was expected to help extinguish the wildfire, but the rain stopped after about 10 minutes.

According to the forestry authorities, around 6:15 p.m. on the 27th, heavy rain poured down in Uiseong-eup, Uiseong-gun. At first, only sporadic raindrops fell, but minutes later, the rain intensified with thunder. However, the rain stopped after about 10 minutes.

As the rain began to fall, officials from the Korea Forest Service rushed to the radar vehicle of the Korea Meteorological Administration in the wildfire command post set up on the second floor of the Uiseong Regional Self-Support Center. Residents of Uiseong were pleased.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that there would be areas of rain in the Gyeongsang region until night. In the early morning of the 28th, there may be raindrops of less than 0.1mm in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

The Uiseong wildfire rapidly spread to Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok, aided by strong winds. Although it is still spreading, the affected area is already the largest in history among wildfires.

Currently, northern Gyeongsangbuk-do is generally cloudy. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast rain in Cheongsong between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and in Yeongdeok at 8 p.m.
