The Korea Forest Service raised the national crisis alert level for forest fire disasters in the Chungcheong, Honam, and Yeongnam regions to "serious."

On the 22nd, the Korea Forest Service announced that it also elevated the crisis alert level in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions from "caution" to "alert."

Due to hot and dry weather, 16 forest fires occurred nationwide on that day alone. A fire in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, has yet to be extinguished.

In regions where the "serious" level is issued, more than one-fourth of affiliated public officials and more than one-half of public service personnel will be deployed on standby. Additionally, military shooting training will be restricted, and entry permits will be suspended.

In "alert" areas such as Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon, more than one-sixth of affiliated public officials and more than one-third of public service personnel will be deployed and on standby.

The Korea Forest Service plans to maintain a close cooperation system with relevant agencies, including local governments, firefighting services, military units, police, and the Korea Meteorological Administration.
