The Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Lee Jae-jung reported being assaulted near the Constitutional Court, and police have launched an inquiry.

According to the Jongno Police Station in Seoul on the 21st, the police received a report regarding a man in his 60s, referred to as A, who is suspected of assaulting Lee around 10:30 p.m. the previous day. However, it is reported that Lee's side has not filed a complaint against A as of now.

A is accused of kicking Lee's right thigh while she was walking past the Constitutional Court around 6:10 p.m. the previous day. The man identified as the assailant has reportedly denied the assault.

Afterward, at a press conference urging the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol in front of the Constitutional Court, Lee stated, "I could not overlook the situation where such actions were taken so casually and recklessly, even in the presence of police, by thugs who do not know how much more dangerous situations they might create."

A police official noted, "Considering the seriousness of the matter, we plan to quickly confirm the facts and conduct a prompt investigation."
