The Seoul Metropolitan Government noted on the 20th that the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at the offices and residence of Mayor Oh Se-hoon related to the allegations against Myung Tae-kyun, stating that "Mayor Oh actively cooperated with the forensic investigation of the mobile phone he previously used, the mobile phone he is currently using, the office PC, and the tablet for a swift investigation."
Seoul City Spokesperson Shin Seon-jong stated through a media notice that "as of 2 p.m. that day, the (prosecution's) search and seizure has concluded."
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the scope of the prosecution's search and seizure pertains to documents, items, and information that have been sent and received from January 1, 2021, to April 30, and from September 1, 2024, to the present. The specific targets include materials related to public opinion polls, computers, mobile phones, calendars, and more.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government also revealed that the prosecution conducted a search and seizure at approximately 10 a.m. at Mayor Oh's office, secretariat, Hanam-dong residence, and the home of the relevant reference person, former Deputy Mayor Kang Cheol-won.
A Seoul city official said, "We are currently actively cooperating with the prosecution's investigation" and expressed hope that the search and seizure will help resolve the allegations related to Myung Tae-kyun.
Meanwhile, the prosecution is investigating allegations that the polling firm Future Korea Institute, which was essentially operated by Myung during the April 2021 Seoul mayoral by-election, conducted 13 unpublished opinion polls related to Mayor Oh. The prosecution is also looking into whether businessman Kim, known as a long-time supporter of Mayor Oh, covered the expense of 33 million won for the polls on five separate occasions.
