MBC weathercaster the late O Yoanna was said to have experienced workplace bullying, and the date of the ruling for the damages lawsuit filed by the bereaved family against the deceased's colleague has been set.

According to the legal community on 4th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 48 (Director General Kim Do-kyun) has decided to schedule the ruling for the lawsuit filed by O's bereaved family against colleague weathercaster A for the 27th.

It has been confirmed that A’s side has not submitted any opinions to the court since the bereaved family filed the lawsuit in December last year. Accordingly, the plaintiffs submitted a request for a ruling date without a trial on the 27th of last month, and the court accepted this and notified the ruling date. Generally, if the defendant does not submit a response after receiving the complaint, the court issues a ruling without a trial, accepting the plaintiff’s claims. However, if the defendant submits a response, the ruling will be canceled, and trial proceedings will commence.

Earlier, on December 23rd of last year, the bereaved family filed a damages lawsuit against A for workplace bullying. According to the complaint, O reportedly suffered serious distress from verbal abuse and unjust directives from A for about two years from October 2021 until before death. The bereaved family noted that they discovered the diary left by the deceased and conversation content indicating bullying, which led them to publicize the matter.
