According to the Jeju East Police Station on the 26th, two Chinese men in their 40s stole six urns and fled from a crematorium in Jeju City around 1:10 a.m. on the 24th.

The suspects, who entered Jeju on the 18th with a visa waiver, reportedly visited several crematoriums in advance to find a convenient location for their crime and used prepared equipment to steal the urns during the early hours.

On the day of the incident, the suspects, who departed for overseas in the morning, demanded $2 million (approximately 2.87 billion won) from the crematorium on the morning of the 25th, using the stolen remains as leverage.

Upon receiving the report, police launched an investigation and found all six urns buried about 1.3 kilometers away in a hillside. The retrieved urns were handed over to the victims' families.

Police plan to apply charges of special theft, possession of remains, and extortion against the suspects who fled overseas and request a red notice from Interpol.
