Recently, a Chinese TikToker's video imitating former President Chun Doo-hwan in Gwangju has become the center of controversy, prompting Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University to criticize it as "absurd."

On the 25th, Professor Seo noted through his social media service (SNS) that "this Namsung uploaded a video titled 'Chun Doo-hwan returned to Gwangju with heavy snow,' which is nothing short of mocking the citizens of Gwangju."

The Namsung was also reported to have worn a jumper, military boots, and had a fully exposed forehead while waving a red flag in front of the National Gwangju Museum.

Professor Seo pointed out, "I cannot understand how one could think of trivializing the historical pain of another country to produce a video."

Professor Seo also recalled that on the 11th, some home fans of the Chinese professional football club Shandong Taishan provoked away fans by unfurling photos of Chun Doo-hwan and Kim Jong-un during a match against Gwangju FC, stating, "The absurd actions of these Chinese must be remembered as a fact that isolates China."

At that time, the Gwangju FC side stated, "This is an act that mocks and degrades not just Gwangju City, but all of South Korea," and demanded an official investigation and disciplinary action. In response, Shandong Taishan issued an apology three days later.
