Gangnam Police Station reportedly began an investigation after receiving a public petition requesting an investigation into the allegations related to Lee.
It is reported that the petitioner raised suspicions that Lee's corporation, where she serves as an internal director, started with a small capital but purchased a large amount of real estate in a short period, in addition to the fact that she was imposed additional taxes due to a tax investigation last year.
Police plan to investigate related parties sequentially according to relevant regulations.
On the 17th, Lee's agency, Team Hoff, stated that 'Lee Ha-nui underwent a non-regular consolidated tax investigation as a corporate artist at the Seoul Regional Tax Service last year and paid additional taxes during this process.' The additional taxes paid are reported to be worth 6 billion won. However, the agency clarified that this additional collection was not due to 'intentional tax omission.'
