Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) announced on the 28th that it will reduce the speed of KTX trains on portions of the Gyeongbu, Honam, Gangneung, and Jungang lines to ensure safety due to heavy snowfall and cold waves across the country.
The sections where speed reductions will be implemented and their speed limits are as follows: ▲ Gyeongbu High-speed Line from Gwangmyeong to Dongdaegu, all trains operating at a speed of 170 km/h or less (midnight to noon) ▲ Honam High-speed Line from Osong to Gongju, all trains operating at a speed of 230 km/h or less (5 a.m. until further notice) ▲ Gangneung Line from Manjong to Namgangneung, all trains operating at a speed of 170 km/h or less (5:30 a.m. until further notice) ▲ Jungang Line from Seowonju to Bongyang, all trains operating at a speed of 230 km/h or less (6:30 a.m. until further notice).
