Kim Shin, the Director General of the Presidential Security Service, who is suspected of obstructing the execution of a warrant for the arrest of President Yoon Suk-yeol, failed to respond to a police summons on the 14th.
The National Police Agency's Special Investigation Unit required Director General Kim to appear by 10 a.m. on that day, but he reportedly did not show up. Police plan to request his appearance again. The Director General is responsible for the protection of the president's family.
Director General Kim is considered part of the 'hardline faction' within the Security Service, alongside Vice Administrator Kim Seong-hoon and Deputy Minister Lee Gwang-woo, in relation to the execution of the warrant for President Yoon. The police explained that they determined an arrest warrant for Director General Kim was necessary after analyzing the evidence.
Currently, a total of five executives from the Security Service have been registered with the police. Among the five, Park Jong-jun, the former head of the Security Service, and Lee Jin-ha, the head of the Security Service's Safety and Security Department, who are classified as moderates, appeared and were investigated by the police. However, Vice Administrator Kim and Deputy Minister Lee Gwang-woo have already failed to respond to the police's three requests for their appearance. The police are said to be planning to apply for arrest warrants to secure their custody.
