The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted on the 14th that snow and rain would fall in most regions of the country until the 16th. Morning commutes will continue to see below-zero temperatures as the cold wave intensifies.
Due to the influence of a weak pressure trough located over the West Sea, snow and rain will begin in the central regions of the Korean Peninsula. Accumulations of 1 to 5 centimeters are expected in eastern Gyeonggi Province, inland Gangwon, and mountainous areas, while 1 centimeter of snow is anticipated in the northern Chungcheong region and northern Gyeongsangbuk Province. Light snow or rain drops may fall in Seoul, Incheon, western Gyeonggi, eastern Gangwon, North Jeolla Province, and inland western Gyeongsang Province. Expected snow accumulation over the next two days (15th-16th) is forecasted to be 1 to 5 centimeters in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Jeju, with 1 centimeter in other regions including Seoul and Ulleungdo.
The sky will appear hazy on this day due to fine dust. Residual fine dust accumulated from the previous day's atmospheric stagnation and fine dust is being transported from China via westerly winds starting in the morning. Most of the fine dust will be washed away by afternoon snow and rain. Fine dust concentration will reach 'bad' levels in the metropolitan area, Yeongseo in Gangwon Province, Chungcheong, Gwangju, North Jeolla Province, Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, and North Gyeongsang Province. Yeongdong in Gangwon Province will see 'bad' levels in the morning, while South Jeolla, South Gyeongsang, and Jeju will experience 'bad' levels starting from the afternoon. Other regions will be at 'normal' levels.
