Boryung held the 41st Boryung Medical Volunteer Awards ceremony on the 24th and awarded the grand award to Heidi Brauchman, the director of Wonju Catholic Hospital.

The Boryung Medical Volunteer Award is hosted by Boryung Holdings, Boryung, and the Korean Medical Association, and it was established in 1985 to discover 'the Schweitzer of this land.' It has reached its 41st edition this year, and awards were presented to 187 medical professionals and organizations, including the late Father Lee Tae-seok and Sister Yurusia, 'the Mother of Kenya,' who have provided medical assistance in underserved areas.

Director Heidi was born in Germany and was the first foreigner to receive a medical license in Korea. She has been recognized for her dedicated service to marginalized neighbors for over 60 years since being sent to Korea as a missionary in 1966.

In 1982, he founded Wonju Catholic Hospital, providing free treatment for more than 10 tuberculosis patients daily. In 1984, he opened the elderly care center 'House of Love,' caring for homeless elderly individuals, and has been active as a social worker since launching the social welfare corporation 'Francisco Social Welfare Association' in 1993. He has established over 50 social welfare facilities in Korea, caring for those suffering from poverty and illness.

The recipients of the main award on this day included the Korean-American Health Medical Education Foundation, Lee Sang-gwon, director of Lee Sang-gwon Family Medicine Clinic, and Han Seung-tae, director of HAEIN Medical Foundation Korean Hospital.

The Korean-American Health Medical Education Foundation is engaged in volunteer education for medical professionals and North Korean defectors and provides medical supplies to North Korea to reduce the health care gap between the South and the North.

Director Lee Sang-gwon has been involved in medical volunteerism and community care activities for over 20 years domestically and internationally, while Director Han Seung-tae is conducting medical volunteer activities for underserved populations in Jeju Island.
