The benefits for corporations that have received confirmation of national strategic technologies are increasing.

The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) noted on the 24th that after reviewing 71 applications for national strategic technology confirmation, they announced that two cases were confirmed to be national strategic technologies.

The "national strategic technology confirmation system" is a program that provides various benefits when a corporation possesses or is researching and developing technology classified as "national strategic technology" under Article 9 of the Special Act on the Promotion of National Strategic Technologies. Corporations confirmed to have national strategic technologies can list under the "super gap technology special exception." Starting this year, corporations confirmed to possess, manage or research and develop national strategic technologies are granted points during the selection as designated military service providers, and benefits such as policy finance support have been strengthened.

In the first announcement of this year, a total of 71 cases of national strategic technology confirmation were received. The Ministry of Science and ICT and KISTEP notified two of these cases of national strategic technology confirmation.

Retinal has been confirmed to possess and manage technology for the commercialization of converged display products in the display field among national strategic technologies. This technology integrates a transparent reflective part within the lens, achieving a bright, clear, and lightweight augmented reality (AR) display.

Iniz has been confirmed to possess explainable AI (XAI) technology in the field of artificial intelligence among national strategic technologies. This technology enables various industries to utilize AI for process optimization, equipment failure prediction, and quality control by providing explanations for the basis and process of AI predictions.

Kang Sang-wook, director of the Science and Technology Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "National strategic technologies are a key driving force for securing scientific and technological sovereignty and technological security capabilities amid intensifying technological hegemony competition," adding, "The government plans to expand rapid commercialization support so that promising technology nurturing entities can create target outcomes with national strategic technologies they possess, manage, or research and develop."
