■The Korea Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WISET) is recruiting trainees for the 'Patent Specification Expert Training Course' targeting women scientists and engineers who have experienced career interruptions or are unemployed. Patent specification experts are responsible for drafting patent specifications to legally protect technological content for patent applications and supporting the procedures from application to examination and registration. This training will be conducted online and offline from April 21 to May 16. The main training content includes practical patent analysis (using big data), responding to patent disputes, theory on patent specification writing, and practical training on patent specifications with current patent attorneys. The training fee is completely free.

■The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced on the 21st that Professor Choi Kyung-cheol of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has been appointed as a Fellow of the Society for Information Display (SID) for 2025. The term for a Fellow is for life. Professor Choi was also selected as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2023. Only 11 researchers worldwide have been selected as Fellows in both the IEEE and SID societies in the display field, and he is the second case in Korea, following the late Professor Lee Byeong-ho of Seoul National University.

■The University of Science and Technology (UST) is recruiting new students for graduate school programs in science and engineering for the second semester of 2025. The application period is from the 16th of next month until 5 p.m. on May 7. Students will be selected through document screening and in-depth interviews, with the final results announced on July 1 at 5 p.m. Government-funded research institutes (government-funded), including the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), and Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, are among the 29 institutions selecting new students, covering 44 related majors in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), electronics, life sciences, energy, and chemistry.

■The Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences held an international seminar for information exchange and mutual cooperation in the field of radiological emergency care with Hirosaki University in Japan over two days from the 20th to the 21st at the National Radiation Emergency Medical Center. In 2013, the Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences and Hirosaki University signed an agreement in the field of radiological emergency care. This seminar was organized to evaluate the achievements of the collaborative projects in radiological emergency care and to identify future tasks. Director Lee Jin-kyung emphasized, "We will do our utmost to enhance our emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety and health of the public in the event of a radiation disaster through continuous cooperation."
