■The Institute for Basic Science (IBS) announced that it will hold an international conference titled 'DNA replication gaps, cancer, and diseases' in collaboration with the Keystone Symposia from April 27 for four days at the Daejeon Convention Center. This conference will focus on the impact of the 'gap' that occurs during the DNA replication process on the onset and treatment of cancer. The Director General of the IBS Genomic Homeostasis Research Group, Myung Kyung-jae, who is an authority in DNA damage repair research, will participate as a co-organizer.

■The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with POSCO FUTURE M to nurture local talent in secondary battery materials. The signing ceremony was held on the 19th and attended by GIST President Im Gi-cheol and Hong Young-jun, head of research at POSCO FUTURE M. GIST and POSCO FUTURE M plan to collaborate through various programs to develop talent in the secondary battery field.

■John Lee, Deputy Minister of the Aerospace Administration, stated on the 20th that he visited Hanwha Space Center, a corporation in the satellite field, and CONTEC Asian Space Park (ASP) located in Jeju Island. Hanwha Space Center is a base where Hanwha System can develop and manufacture satellites under private leadership. Construction began last year at the Seogwipo City Hawaon Techno Campus. ASP operates satellite antenna and control facilities. Deputy Minister Lee noted, 'We will help domestic corporations smoothly enter the space industry.'

■The Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center located at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) announced that it will hold the 'SME Week Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Support Program' for small and medium-sized enterprise employees and prospective entrepreneurs from April 1 to 3. This program, led by POSTECH faculty, will consist of lectures focused on AI technology. One-on-one personalized consulting will also be offered for companies facing difficulties in building or applying smart factories.
