Yonsei University announced that it will host the 'Yonsei Quantum Week 2025' from March 4 to 8 at the Songdo International Campus and the Sinchon Campus.
This event, held for the first time to mark the 140th anniversary of Yonsei University and the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), is set to be the largest event in Korea where industry, academia, and citizens can collectively explore the current status and future of quantum information science.
The 'Industry Session' marking the start of this event will take place from the 4th to the 5th at the international campus. In this session, global quantum computer corporations such as IBM, D-Wave, and Pasqal will present case studies showcasing the application of their technologies, introducing how quantum technology is being applied in the business field.
From the 6th to the 7th, the international conference will feature leading scholars in quantum science sharing the latest research achievements and outlooks. On the 6th, a Quantum Health Conference co-hosted by the United Kingdom and South Korea will explore the changes quantum technology will bring to the healthcare sector. On the 7th, an academic meeting involving key scholars in the field of quantum science will be held.
On the 7th, Yonsei University will hold a dedication ceremony for the 'Yonsei Quantum Complex' at the international campus, announcing its vision to become a world-class quantum science research hub. Additionally, on the 8th, the international campus will host a 'Quantum Computing Academy' for high school students in Incheon and a public lecture on quantum computing for citizens.
Meanwhile, at the Sinchon Campus of Yonsei University, an opening lecture by science communicator 'Kweido' will kick off on the 4th, followed by special lectures involving faculty from the quantum information science department continuing until the 7th. The 'Y-LegoQ' program, which allows participants to implement quantum computing principles using genuine LEGO bricks, will also run from March 7 to June 20.
Jeong Jae-ho, head of the Quantum Business Division at Yonsei University, noted, 'This year's newly planned Yonsei Quantum Week 2025 has been prepared as an event for 'open quantum innovation for all' to promote the spread and growth of quantum science and technology in South Korea.' He added, 'In particular, we hope for the active participation and interest of representatives from corporations preparing future businesses in quantum computing during the Industry Session, which will include presentations on quantum application cases by leading quantum computer manufacturing and service corporations such as IBM, D-Wave, and Pasqal.'
