BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, announced on the 6th that it will partner with the Korean Senior Employment Agency to create jobs for the elderly through the 'Intergenerational Happiness Connected Senior Job Store business agreement.'

The signing ceremony was held on the morning of the 4th at the 7th-floor conference room of BGF Retail's headquarters, attended by BGF Retail's Director of Management Support Ryu Cheol-han and Director Kim Mi-gon of the Korean Senior Employment Agency.

BGF Retail and the Korean Senior Employment Agency plan to open CU senior convenience stores through the 'Intergenerational Store' business agreement by collaborating with job execution organizations for the elderly across the country. They will actively promote ▲creating jobs for the elderly ▲supporting the elderly job ecosystem ▲addressing food deserts.

The proportion of those aged 65 and older in South Korea has surpassed 20% of the total population, marking entry into a super-aged society. In response, BGF Retail is opening senior convenience stores nationwide to provide stable jobs for the middle-aged.

Workers at senior convenience stores will manage various tasks related to store operations, including ordering, product display, and customer service, allowing them to earn stable salary income. Additionally, they will serve as a sales outlet for products produced by the 'Senior Community Business Group.'

Last year, BGF Retail collaborated with the public interest brand 'Shinier Market,' which supports socio-economically disadvantaged seniors and creates jobs, launching 15 products. A portion of the revenue was donated to senior partners.

Director Ryu Cheol-han of BGF Retail noted, 'BGF Retail will strive to help senior workers adapt quickly to store operations and create a convenience store where all generations can enjoy and thrive.'
