Hyundai Department Store Group announced on the 13th that it operated a digital photo card booth on the first floor of its headquarters building in Gangnam, Seoul, using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create an image of Chairman Jeong Ji-seon.

This booth operated for two days from the 9th, with participation from over 800 employees. According to the company, it aimed to boost the New Year spirit and encourage employees to start the year through meetings facilitated by digital photo cards featuring virtual images based on AI technology.

In particular, this photo card applied augmented reality (AR) technology to overlay virtual images onto the real world.

The actual AR photo card booth was designed so that Chairman Jeong, dressed in a tuxedo and smiling while holding a sparkler, could appear and take photos and videos alongside attendees.

This photo card initiative was propelled forward when Chairman Jeong responded to the ideas of Generation Z employees in the company's digital business division.

In his New Year's message this year, Chairman Jeong emphasized, "Growth begins with action, expands through various collaborations, and is completed through mutual understanding. Let us believe in and help each other as we boldly face the waves of change together."
