Lotte World Adventure announced on the 13th that the amusement rides "Bungee Drop" and "Swing" will conclude over 20 years of operation on the 2nd of next month.
Bungee Drop is an amusement ride developed with an investment of 3.5 billion won in July 2000. The ride features a mechanism where the passenger ascends to a height of 32 meters at a maximum speed of 72 kilometers per hour, repeating the ascent and descent three times, which contributed to its popularity. When it first opened, Bungee Drop was located indoors in Adventure, but it was relocated to the outdoor area, Magic Island, in May 2006 and reopened. With an average of 118 operations a day, Bungee Drop has a cumulative operation of approximately 1,034,000 times, covering a total distance of about 100,000 kilometers. This is equivalent to stacking about 11,300 of the highest mountains in the world, Everest.
Swing opened at Magic Island in September 2002. It is an amusement ride where a total of 32 leaf-shaped seats hang from a 12-meter-tall mushroom tree and rotate rapidly at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Each operation of the Swing lasts 2 minutes and 20 seconds, during which it travels about 1.9 kilometers. With an average of 99 operations a day, the cumulative number of operations over 22 years has reached approximately 795,000 times, equivalent to a distance of about 1,510,000 kilometers.
The family ride, the Merry-Go-Round, will also cease operations on the same day.
Meanwhile, Lotte World Adventure will hold a nostalgia photo event titled "Goodbye Magic Attraction" from today until the 2nd of next month.
