The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will invest approximately 41.8 billion won in this year's cadastral re-survey project. The ministry plans to expand the participation of private companies in the cadastral re-survey project to foster mutual growth.
The ministry noted that it will complete the selection of private companies for the cadastral re-survey project in 2025 and officially launch the project based on cooperative efforts with the private sector.
This year's project volume includes 381 project areas (166,000 parcels) across 156 local governments nationwide, with a budget of approximately 41.78 billion won allocated.
Starting this year, the ministry has increased the participation rate of private companies in four processes, including parcel surveying, to 47% from 40%, through the adjustment of progress rates in cooperation with Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX Corporation). As a result of this increased rate, LX Corporation will share the project budget to support mutual growth with private companies, leading to an expected rise in the average revenue of private companies by about 20 million won.
In this year's public recruitment of private companies for the cadastral re-survey project, 132 companies participated, achieving a national average competition ratio of 5 to 1. Among the 156 target local governments, 146 (93.6%) were selected. The average score of private companies was reported at 94.6.
The selected private companies will complete four processes, including parcel surveying, and transfer their results to LX Corporation, which will then establish new boundaries and areas of the land based on the private companies’ achievements by adding six additional processes, including boundary confirmation. The 10 local governments that did not select private companies will be exclusively managed and advanced by LX Corporation without additional announcements.
The ministry also held a policy meeting for the selected private companies this year. In this meeting, the ministry presented policy directions for the cadastral re-survey project tailored to changes in cadastral surveying environments, such as the utilization of advanced technologies, drones, and artificial intelligence (AI), and discussed successful project advancement through two-way communication and cooperation.
Yoo Sang-cheol, the head of the Spatial Information Policy Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated, "Accurate cadastral information is essential for core projects in the fields of land and transportation, such as smart cities, artificial intelligence (AI), and autonomous driving," emphasizing, "We will do our best to ensure that the 2025 cadastral re-survey project proceeds without any setbacks."
