The Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation (SH Corporation) held the 'ESG Environmental Management Declaration Ceremony' on the 3rd, declaring that all employees have committed to practicing environmental management.

At the ceremony, President Hwang Sang-ha, along with Chairperson Lee Sung-jae of the Seoul Housing and Urban Corporation Labor Union, labor directors Han Sung-wook and Seol Jae-hoon, and a representative of employees read the environmental management policy declaration in front of all staff.

The declaration included topics such as compliance with environmental laws and standards, transparent disclosure of environmental information, participation in basic plans for carbon neutrality and green growth, preservation of biodiversity and natural resources, and minimization of environmental impacts from business activities.

The SH Corporation published its first green report, which contains a long-term ESG environmental management plan and a phased implementation plan (roadmap) for greenhouse gas reduction for the years 2025 to 2030.

The green report outlines the direction and plans for environmental management that the SH Corporation aims to actively pursue by 2030. Through the green report, SH Corporation plans to actively communicate and share with stakeholders about a sustainable future through environmental management.

President Hwang Sang-ha's greeting reflects the commitment to environmental management, including topics such as greenhouse gas reduction and energy efficiency improvement, biodiversity and natural resources preservation, and strengthening eco-friendly design and procurement. The report also includes environmental performance data and greenhouse gas emission verification opinions.

In this green report, SH Corporation disclosed its Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions for the first time among domestic public institutions. Greenhouse gas scopes distinguish the targets and ranges for measurement: Scope 1 refers to emissions from resources directly owned and managed by corporations; Scope 2 refers to emissions from electricity, steam, and cooling purchased for consumption; and Scope 3 includes indirect emissions throughout the entire value chain covering all activities in the lifecycle of a corporation, extending beyond Scopes 1 and 2.

SH Corporation has entered into a service contract with Deloitte Anjin Accounting Corporation in 2024 to calculate greenhouse gas emissions for Scopes 1 to 3. They have also received certification under the international standard ISO 14064. The greenhouse gas inventory investigates where and how much greenhouse gas is being emitted and builds data by listing emission sources. The SH Corporation's green report is freely available for anyone to view on its website.

President Hwang said, “With this declaration of environmental management and the publication of the green report, we will actively communicate with stakeholders about a sustainable future and fulfill our environmental responsibilities,” adding, “We will actively implement ESG environmental management to become a leading institution in ESG.”
