Minister Park Hong-geun of the Ministry of Planning and Budget said on the 7th that the government aims to pay the "high oil price damage support funds" to vulnerable groups within this month and to the rest in May. The high oil price damage support funds, which the government is pursuing through a supplementary budget, will provide 100,000 to 600,000 won to 70% of the public.
Minister Park gave this answer at a full session of the Special Committee on Budget & Accounts held at the National Assembly, responding to a question from Noh Jong-myeon of the Democratic Party of Korea asking, "When do you expect the general public will be able to apply for the support funds?"
Minister Park said, "For vulnerable groups who already have administrative data (near-poverty households, single-parent families, and basic livelihood recipients), we will aim to make payments in April, and for the others, because we need to comprehensively organize using National Health Insurance financing data, it may take time, so we are preparing with the goal of paying in May."
